Ways to Give
The Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of the men, women and children who live with this often devastating disease. There are many ways in which you can play a key role in helping us to accomplish our mission:
Become a Foundation member
Members always have the option to give an extra gift with their new membership or renewal. A membership packet will be mailed out along with a tax receipt for the extra gift. You may also give a gift of membership.
Donate to the RLS Foundation
Unrestricted gifts give the Foundation the flexibility to target funds for programs and projects that are in the most need of financial support. Restricted gifts may be designated to three areas: education, research and Quality Care Centers. Donations to these funds are earmarked for special projects that may complement an individual donor's intentions more closely.
Ask your Human Resources Department if your employer sponsors a Matching Program. Many companies will double your gift to the Foundation, making every dollar you send worth two dollars to the Foundation.
Start a recurring gift
A recurring gift is gentle on your budget. Simply setting aside five dollars every week provides a gift of twenty dollars a month to the Foundation. Five dollars a week - that's the cost of one coffee drink or magazine - but it adds up to $240 over the course of a year. A monthly gift will provide RLS patients with access to valuable information through our web site and publications, contribute to valuable research projects that may someday lead to a cure, and help the Foundation move ahead with important projects. The process of becoming a recurring gift donor is easy, quick and powerful. Click here to make an impact monthly.
This type of gift allows you to eliminate the burden of capital gain taxes. In nearly all cases, the donor is able to claim a charitable income tax deduction equal to the fair-market value of the securities. If you would like more information on giving a stock or other security gift, send us an email.
Memorial and Honorary gifts
As you honor loved ones on birthdays or anniversaries, take a moment to remember how RLS has touched their lives. RLS can be hereditary, so many generations of one family may experience RLS. Honor those who suffered before you and share the hope that future generations will not face RLS by making a memorial or honorary gift to the Foundation today. Memorial and honorary gifts are an important part of our yearly budget. With support from donors like you, the Foundation is able to provide our informational website and library of free, scientifically accurate RLS publications, and to fund RLS research into improved treatments and a cure for RLS.
Consider planned giving
Please consider making the Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation an enduring part of your life by becoming a member of our Ekbom Heritage Society. Estate philanthropy is one of the most meaningful ways to leave a legacy and a wonderful way to show support to an organization that has special meaning in your life. Gifts from supporters like you—those who plan ahead for their future—will ensure that the RLS Foundation of tomorrow is as strong as the RLS Foundation of today.
