Spring Fundraiser

Dear Friend of the RLS Foundation,

Recently, I was walking along a solitary beach. It was low tide and the sand was littered with clam shells and the occasional starfish. I was reminded of a story about how each one of us has the power to make a difference in this world. Today, you can make a difference to the RLS Foundation by making a gift to support our work this year.

An old man walked along a shore littered with starfish, beached and dying after a storm. A young boy was picking them up and tossing them back into the ocean. “Why do you bother?” the old man asked. “You are not saving enough starfish to make a difference.” The boy picked up another starfish and sent it spinning back into the ocean. “Made a difference to that one,” he replied.

Each of us is capable of making a difference in the lives of others. No matter how small we think our act is, to another it can be life-changing.

Our 2010 Spring Fundraiser goal is to raise $60,000. To reach our goal, we welcome gifts of any size! All donations are valuable and will make a difference at the RLS Foundation. Your contribution will help with the following:

$10            Distribute a copy of Living with RLS to 20 individuals who are new to the RLS community
$30            Support a one-year RLS Foundation membership for someone in financial need
$100         Provide financial support to one local support group for meeting costs
$500         Distribute a copy of NightWalkers to 500 individuals who request information on RLS
$1,000     Help support our costs for one regional education meeting
$2,500     Help support special website features such as our scrolling news feed
$5,000    Underwrite costs for the RLSF Brain Bank Program in 2010
$10,000 Provide physician education (exhibit meetings, materials, Scientific Bulletin)
$25,000 Support one 2010 research grant to help us uncover the mysteries of RLS

Please consider making a real difference in the lives of our friends and family members living with restless legs syndrome. Your gift would be a welcome addition to our efforts. Each and every starfish on the RLS beach is waiting for you to make a difference.

Warmly,
Georgianna Bell
